Bell & Whistle

The Bell & Whistle draws its name from the proximity to the adjacent church bell to the north and fire whistle to the south. The restaurant is tucked away behind a main structure occupied by a coffee shop and residence above.

Stone and copper define the main elements of the architecture and are drawn from the historic structures throughout Hopewell. Floor to ceiling operable glass doors on the east facade frame a view to the east garden court which is highlighted by several mature Chinese Red Dawn trees.

The architecture sought to create a wonderful place to be discovered by residence of the town and others. The main entry path is articulated by stone pavers arranged in a fan pattern. The path is highlighted by a lamp and lattice structure that acts as a device for the climbing roses and other plantings along this edge.
